On sweat and earplugs
by phill
If anyone hadn’t noticed, and you’d have to be some sort of invalid not to have, it’s getting really smegging hot down here in the southern hemisphere. Before you start your sniggering Cian I’d caution to remind you that, um, you smell funny and…snow isn’t that great. Yeah. Take it. The current state of heat slowly raising the averages all across this land of ours isn’t helped by it’s collusion with that universal conduit H2O, the combination of which serves to clog every pore and render movement anywhere that isn’t directly in front of an air-conditioner an exercise in sloshing. Of course summer wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t mention the fact that my workplace has an extremely efficient air-conditioner, though why we would want the air conditioned to a temperature higher than that of outside, and laden with more moisture than a sponge full of jelly is beyond my comprehension. Standing under one of our vents is – as Andrew so succinctly put it – “like getting a boiling hot shower while being stuck in the desert.”
I bought a Creative Zen Neeon (what’s with the obsession of Creative’s to put double letters in everything. It works in some situations, just take my name for example, but I think in this case there could’ve been a lack of an ‘e’ and no-one would have been bothered) off Amy for what was a very reasonable price and it is a very reasonable mp3 player. Holds 6 Gb of songs, can handle line-in as well as radio recording, is very easy to put things onto and pull things off of and it plays music out the earplugs that I can listen to while doing things that might be done more enjoyably to tunes. Unfortunately my ears are too small for the earplugs they provided. Yes. Too small for earplugs. Laugh. Done? Good. I have to use my big chunky-monkey earphones from the computer or suffer half the sound missing my earhole, and sharp cramps in my general aural area. Goddamnit.
I sent off two letters yesterday – Lexia nd Nick you should receive them (trusting your postal system) sometime in the next year or so. And that is that.
