Damn.

I wonder how many thousand other people he inspired toward either scientific or literary careers? I think that's the greatest kudos any writer could achieve.

Not to mention the way science itself seems to follow in his footsteps, and those of writers like him. I wonder, too, how many scientists have secretly pushed the bounds due to ideas sparked by something they've read in a work of imagination.

Goodbye, Arthur C. And thanks, for everything.

Oh...I missed this, but it appears to have just happened today. I really only read a couple of his novels, but he was someone I respected, and he was among my brother's favorite writers.

Reading the post on your laptop today was -not- the ideal way to find out one of my heroes has passed on.
Two brilliant creative minds in the same month... it does not bode well for the rest of them. Someone get a message out to Matthew Reilly and tell him to lay low and for the love of god, EAT SOME GODDAMN ORANGES MAN! TAKE YOUR VITAMINS! STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM LARGE MASSES OF MOVING METAL AND/OR LIGHTNING!!!
