Poetry FAQ
by phill
Slate, a lovely site full of interviews, reviews, media commentary, and delicious baked goods, have published a fine article on the more common questions regarding poetry. I only link it here because a) Griffin & Hoxie had linked to it, and b) I found myself asking the same questions when I first encountered modern poetry little over 6 months ago. It does this by showing you examples of poetry where the answer to the question has been exemplified, so you can work it out for yourself. Find a quiet spot, clear your throat, and get stuck into some fine examples of why poetry is one of the most exciting things you can do with words.

“9. Well, I like poetry that is amusing, that maybe makes me chuckle a little. I’d rather read something reassuring and light than something complicated or gloomy. Is that bad? Does that mean I am a jerk?
Yes.”
Hahahaha
That was a good read. I like that they left the poems to do the answering themselves, instead of spelling out everything.
