wordle fun.

Found via Boing Boing, Wordle is a neat little java site that creates a word cloud out of either a whole bunch of text or your delicious profile tags. Being the narcisist that I am, I decided to chuck a few of my short stories at it and see what came out:
That’s the three stories you can find here on the site, plus one that I’m working on. In the case of the latter, it’s amusing to see the cloud landscape change to accomodate the huge ‘AND’ stuck in the centre when I click off the ‘exclude common words’ option within the applet. Yeap, there’s a lot of them thar ands in these hills. As a writer’s tool, it’s actually quite useful to identify the crutch words you might use too often within a story. Mostly though, it’s just cool to see all your words line up nicely and colourfully.
