Dribs and drabs

Just a few little bits and pieces for today. I’m in the process of writing a huge review and personal opinion of Warhammer Online, so that once the NDA lifts I can bring you a comprehensive picture of how great it’s going to be. I’m at 5,000 words and counting, so keep an eye on that if you’re at all interested.

Crash Bonsai is one of the best ideas I’ve seen for a while. I did attempt to do the Bonsai thing for quite a while, but unfortunately even the more resilient Chinese Elm wasn’t up to the Australian sun (and my occasional negligence). Their gallery is pretty hit and miss, but I imagine up close the individuality of the models would stand out a bit more.

I’ve got a new story up at 365 Tomorrows, featured for today. It’s called ‘War Games‘ and it’s an idea that’s been bouncing around in my head for a while. Thanks once again for Steve and his crew.

Grant had an excellent Wii Tournament last night, planned down to the last little detail. Really great atmosphere, and the Wii makes it so that even the non-hardcore nerdy types can have fun (and in the case of Wii Bowling, kick the crap out of everyone else). It even made me crank out my Wii and get back into Wii Fit!

This story had me shaking my head and wondering if there was any chance it was inflammatory, but then I noticed it was from the BBC and therefore unquestionable (hah). But there is actually a website for people that believe the world is flat. I don’t have much time to investigate it, but I’d hope that there was some deep irony embedded in there.

Caught up with a lot of the Dymocks people over dinner tonight, it’s good to see them all again. Unfortunately I’m feeling pretty damn sick now, so I didn’t provide a lot of conversation. Ah well, at least I’ve touched base. Hopefully there’ll be a few more catchups.

If you want a good summary on the FlatEarth stuff read their FAQ on the forum – I enjoyed it :P (though honestly if your trying to at least provide some critical thinking to their ideas, it is really boring when they just come back with “its a conspiracy”)
Oh god – don’t read the forum – your brain will explode. Its not critical debate or anything its simply,
“The conspiracy explains all”
“You weren’t there, how can you know that was true”
“Stop talking your questioning me and my logic and I don’t like it”
Damn bunch of conspiracy theorists and thats it.
Its a horrible train wreck and I can’t look away …
I can see where they’re coming from, eg, humans will accept anything at face value, but geez. Believing in an obviously disproven theory is not helping their case with gullibility.
