Ups and downs.

Got the polite rejection letter from The Town Drunk this morning, wouldn’t say I was all that surprised but any rejection is a bit disheartening. Ah well, to be honest I don’t think it was quite the right market to go for. I’ll keep it in reserve for when I rustle through the stacks of duotrope.
On the other hand, I got notice of the first issue of Verb-Ate-Him being published. With my very first piece of poetry and a recording inside of its electron-rich .pdf pages. Pretty happy with that, and the production itself is slick. There are a bunch of other talented individuals inside as well, so check it out if you feel up it. They’re just starting up (obviously, who else would take me in?) so any support or encouragement you give is great. Poetry is appealing to me at the moment, if only because of the community and the short spaces of time it occupies in its execution, so perhaps with this I’ll go on a clean-up and submissions binge in the poetical world. Who knows?
Swung around Dad’s place for some lunch and watched some golf and footy. Golf, would you believe it? I ordinarily don’t like watching the game, but this year’s Masters had some seriously nice moments. Pity Kenny didn’t get there but Angel earned it with the approach shot. Kept his cool after that incredibly bad tee off on the first hole elimination. I’m sure he hit the tree deliberately. Totally.
The rain is coming down outside my house, first time it’s gone for so long and so consistently for a long time. The window was down earlier before it got too cold and the smell was fantastic. Definitely one thing I’m going to miss when I move closer to uni mid-year. The smell of the hills region is fantastically refreshing, even if it does destroy my sinuses.

What happened to your new format? Where are the big words at the beginning that turn into little words for the rest of the sentence? I need this kind of stability in my life, Phill.
Sadfayse on the rejection; I got my share of them in highschool, so I empathise. Maybe one day soon, I might write something on my page… Maybe…
To keep things in perspective, Matthew Reilly got rejected nonstop, decided to self publish and is now an internationally known author. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Reilly
How was the BBQ at Bec’s?
Heh, yeah. I read Ice Station for the first time last week. Quite a ride, looking forward to the other two in a guilty pleasure-ey kind of way (:
Good, yeah. The place they have is really great. Big arse block of land, with a massive shed and a really great outdoor area. Should be tip top for weekend shenanigans. Really need to keep up with them more often. Forget how much fun it is shooting the breeze with ‘em. No pressure, no worries.
Hehe, I slipped, fell, and forgot. The rain distracted me!
Thankfully the rejection itself wasn’t stinging, just a polite ‘we didn’t get into this’. I’d have been mortified if it’d been anything worse :O
