New story up at The Clearfield Review

Just a quick
heads-up that there is a story of mine available for perusal over at The Clearfield Review. Mine is the very sentimental short story with the ridiculously long title. While you’re there reading it, be sure to check out the other talented individuals that have been featured.
In other news, with three days left to go on the Chemistry Move, I strained my back pretty severely. The number of people that have seen me cry could, previous to Wednesday afternoon, be counted on one hand. But with the event of getting out of a low car, this has had to be extended to two hands with the addition of Pitboss Rob and Sergii. I hadn’t ever given credence to the phrase ‘breathless with pain’, but dang, I can sure identify with it now. So it’s lying low and resting up for the next few days so that I can hopefully go on another Run Club Friday evening, or perhaps Sunday afternoon.
I also managed to finish another short story, or at least got as far as I can with it under a 3,000 word restriction. We’ll see how it pans out once the ever-awesome Steph gets back to me with her scribbles. I like it. I like the voice and I like the characters for once. We’ll see how it fares once I’ve given it drawer time.
I went to the suburb of Ikea today to get myself a desk. And nothing else. Which was a feat in itself. You need to have corridor vision in that place, or else you start seeing things that can enrich your life to the point of Rapture. Lou and I ran the gauntlet, fought the Minotaur and grabbed the desk we wanted before escaping quickly through customer service. It fits good, and now I have a desk of my own in our study, to write and not be conscious of the open space that my desktop computer currently sits in. Sometimes you just need a door between yourself and the rest of the world.
Alright, off to give the Batman: Arkham Asylum demo a play-through. Doctor’s orders. (:

Pictures of the Phil habitat please.
Hugs for painage. :(
Hey Phil.
I only suggest this because I damaged my back lifting a piano in Year 12 (and put my back out when picking my pants up off my ex-girlfriends mother’s bedroom floor!) and I have seen a bunch of physios and got exercises and stuff.
If you have pain or limited movement in your lower back (or mid and mid-upper) :
lie down in the middle of a large open area and put your arms out on each side of you as if you are crucified. Bend your legs, knees together pointed directly at the ceiling, your feet flat on the floor tucking them in towards your ass till you can’t close the gap under your knees any more.
Then keeping both shoulders flat on the ground (made possible cause you are crucified!) roll your knees to one side, your outer foot travelling up your inner (other) leg to get maximum twist up your back – and if you have full flexibility and motion finish extending your outer leg fully. Repeat for the other side.
Extend till you feel a stretch and hold for as long as you can be bothered.
I do the twice a day and for longer at the gym and it corrected pain from poor lifting and sitting for too long and stretches so those activities do less damage/pain.
There are variations for example with the under leg fully extended but apparently its the same but limits the rotation and potential benefits of the stretch.
I have spammed you enough – feel better!
@Cian: Coming right up!
@Shane: Thanks man, definitely going to try that today. Not sure if I’d be able to get a full rotation going but we’ll see how it goes :D
