Accident.

Been a hectic
few days. Louise and I had a car accident on Friday…wait, that sounds weird. As if we somehow brought it into the world with love and affection. Who’s a good little multiple fatality? You are! Cooo. ‘We were involved’ also sounds somewhat distant, as if you don’t really want to own up to the fact. Yeah I was involved with this car accident and the next day I came out with this hideous rash, gotta get myself tested tomorrow. I guess the best way of saying it is the literal truth; our car was hit by another car. The gory details are thankfully absent, but there were some very minor whiplashed details on Lou’s behalf. The details of whose fault it is are yet to be drawn from the depths of the magic eight-ball, but there are two pieces of information that contribute to my bias: article one is that were were driving in a straight line, and article two is that the woman probably couldn’t have seen past the five cars blocking her vision before she pulled out into traffic. Who knows, maybe she had X-ray vision? Perhaps she was operating in polar coordinates, resulting in us being the ones curving into her. These are the facts that insurance companies are paid to bullshit their way out of claims unveil.
After that it was a day or so of figuring out what the procedure was and acting upon it. Police reports were reported, two truck drivers cursed, and insurance companies lodged against. A few days before the accident I had put my back out a bit lifting something a tad too heavy so the weekend was always going to be pretty lazy. There was some talk of a run with Dino but the weather soon put that out of the question. that and the fact that we went to motherfuckin’ SCITECH for an adults-only night. It was pretty fun to run around the place and get a kick out of some of the old exhibits that were still there. Tim was right in saying that when we were little the walls did stretch out that little bit further, and crammed as it was with bogans that lost sight of wonder around the same time they reached the legal drinking age, it wasn’t the same. But still, it was enough just to have a go at the bubble maker again. And Horizon, the Plane-arium, was a really great experience. Nothing like cosmic collisions to shrink you to insignificance. Must head back there one day.
Sunday Dino and I did make it out to Lake Munga to run a couple of laps. I definitely felt bad about missing Run Club for a couple of times, so getting out there was very welcome. I’m pretty happy with my progress, I’m feeling like I could definitely slip under the one hour mark in the City to Surf later this month. Zoe will probably still kick my arse. She’s got hollow legs like a bird, makes her very aerodynamic.
