The City to

Surf run was yesterday, and needless to say, today I am quite sore. Weirdly my knees are okay, it’s my Achilles tendons that are groaning. The downhills are killers. In any case, my goal was to get under an hour and I am damn happy to say that I did it! Here’s my vital stats:

  • Net time: 58 minutes, 04 seconds.
  • Event place (all runners of the 12km run): 1,848 out of 12,374 finishers.
  • Category place (males aged 19-29 of the 12km run): 695 out of 2,394 finishers.
  • Gender place (all males of the 12km run): 1,664 out of 7,380 finishers.
  • Average running speed: 12.4 kilometres per hour.

So yeah, I’m stoked! Next year, if I’m still in the state,  I’ll be aiming for under 55 minutes. It’ll be tough, but hopefully if I keep up my running between now and then I’ll be able to really smash it.

I’ve been featured in 365tomorrows again with the second of the two stories that I wrote while heavily sleep deprived at the Australian Synchrotron. Nothing like the clunk  and hiss of machinery whizzing electrons around to make you feel like writing speculative fiction. Cheers again, Steve! (:
