Astronaut
by phill
Title is as a result of listening to God Is An Astronaut pretty much constantly since Pete and Bec recommended them to me. Favourite album so far is ‘All Is Violent, All Is Bright’.
Life’s been busy, as usual. The weekend wasn’t as hectic as usual, but still managed to pass by in the blink of an eye. Zoe and Paolo hosted us on Saturday night with an exquisite seafood pasta, followed by more Settler of Catan. They were the last of the friends that pitched in to buy it for me to play it, and both really liked it. So much so that Zoe wants to buy the Seafarers expansion set. One step at a time, though. We’ll try and finish a game in under two hours first.
Writing wise I’m on a bit of an up-cycle. This collaboration with the gentleman over East is making me want to write a lot more than I usually would, to the point of being frustrated when I don’t get the time during the normal course of activities. I’ve been experimenting again, this time with kind of surreal plots. There’s an example at my deviantART page in the form of ‘The Itch‘. I had originally submitted it to The Collagist, but received a very polite letter saying they couldn’t use it. A lot of people have given me great advice on what might be done with it, so I’m ready for a redraft as soon as I can collect my thoughts. While I’m doing that, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the people that give me critique. I am continually stunned by the generosity of people in reading my writing and giving me their opinions on it. It’s quite often not an easy thing to do, what with my ideas being and their execution being malformed a lot of the time. But still people–people I’ve never even met, mind you–persist in reading my words with a critical eye and offering me their very useful thoughts. Utterly mind-blowing. So thanks, guys.
And with that, back to Thesis-ing.

I think some people think thesis as a verb simply meaning the act of writing sentences; however, after three (or more) years of work there is so much not only in your head, but also scattered all over your desk, floor and home that really it involves some much organising, preparing, stressing, plotting (both graphic and the paranoid type), writing, editing, and sucking up to potential proofers and examiners that there is no other verb in the english language that does the process any justice.
*some much = so much.
stupid brain
Is Settlers of Catan that good reaaally? Considering getting it for Xmas Day – otherwise it’s good ol’ Cluedo. Oh yes, I’m always Miss Scarlet.
@Shane For me there’s probably more information on my desk and in my computer than there is in my brain. I’m frazzled ):
@Cian Yes. Yes it is. However it will depend on who you play it with. You need a group of nerds with a bit of patience to learn it initially, but once you do that it’s all good.
