@Elena Yeah, and his solutions to those corners aren't exactly mind-bending. Usually something that has been used before is used again. They're a good break from the kinds of depressing books that I've been reading lately. I think I need that refresher after a while, remind me that reading isn't all about thinking critically, it can be great fun, too (:

I went through a Matthew Reilly phase a few years ago. After a while, noticed that he tends to write himself into corners a lot.
But as far as unapologetic smarmy action novels go, he's definitely up there.

Contest was pretty rad from memory.

@Cian Yeah yeah yeah, you can claim first recommendation rights if you like. I had actually read Ice Station ages ago but forgot about it until recently (which, you have to admit, is pretty easy to do). I'm about halfway through 'Five Greatest Warriors' at the moment, and it looks like with the pace it's going at there will be another cliff-hanger at the end of it. I really hope it doesn't take all the way down to one to actually finish the series off.

Also, I casually clicked on my spam folder for comments today and I saw that some of yours are going into there. I'm not sure why, I'll try and create a filter so that yours are always auto-accepted, but if I can't I'll just have to keep an eye out
