Literary Crush

WithExtraPulp started this indulgent meme yesterday, and the rules of sharing your literary crush are relatively simple:
The rules are pretty simple: Must be a character that appears in a book, comic or graphic novel (because, let’s face it, superheroes are hawt).
Which got me thinking. It’s not like I could get away with saying Lolita, though it would be quite amusing to see the kind of response I’d get. Instead I thought way back to when I first started reading a lot, and that inevitably got me caught up in all the memories of the fantasy novels I would devour daily during high school. And that lead me with similar inevitability to Mara of the Acoma from the Empire series by Raymond E. Feist and Janny Wurts. She survives being thrust into the possession of a failing house of nobles, rising to become a deadly playing in the political Game that all the different houses play against each other. Intelligent, worldly, incisive, and not a little bit sexy. Mara’s my choice for this week as homage to my teenage reading years! (:

I think one of the rules of fantasy novels is one superhot, super arse-kicking lady. Great pick.
And welcome to the meme :) Both you and Mae called it ‘crush’ instead of ‘lust’….I should probably tone down the raciness..
@Elena: Heh, yeah if I went for lusts it might get a little bit weird to admit them. I much prefer the safety of crushes. :P
Did she have a weird white streak in her hair? Or am I confusing her with someone from some other pulp fantasy my ex foisted upon me?
@Stef You’re thinking of Polgara from the David Eddings series.
@Phil Can this include videogame characters? I always had a thing for Squall from FF8.. if oooonly literary, gotta be Westley/Dread Pirate Roberts.
Mara? ha ha ha. You don’t have a crush on Tomas’s wife? (the elf queen?) :P
@Cian : Tidus (with an anti-whinging mechanism installed)
@Steph: Yeah, Cian’s right, you’re thinking about Polgara and the gang from Mr. Eddings’ books. Nothing wrong with fantasy, yo!
@Cian: Funnily enough, Westley is who Elena first did at her blog! And Aquall, you should be ashamed >:|
@Shane: Nah, she was too aloof, I like my girls to be down to earth :P
Elena’s right – lust is far too racy. Lolita would be a very, very interesting choice! :-p Responses would be interesting too if one of us selected Humbert Humbert.
Oh damn. I was gonna do Humbert Humbert. :P
@Mae: He’s just a poor. misguided fellow who needs some love, right? Right? :O
@Elena: You should do Ignatius J. Reilly from Confederacy of Dunces, he’s a hot one :P
I think Julia from Nineteen-Eighty-Four is just lovely, I’d love to get my tentacles around her.
@Shane God no, if anyone Martin or Jimmy the Hand (wink wink, nudge nudge).
@Phil Squall is perfectly acceptable, he has a bad boy rebel scar, a big feckoff gunblade and a leather jacket. Otherwise, somewhat partial to Scarecrow (I Heart you Matthew Reilly).
@Cthulhu: Ooh, nice choice! And so rebellious! Of course, you’d have to be able to do it while on camera…
@Cian: I think the gunblade was compensating for something, if you know what I mean. :P
