Ray

Others will likely

deliver more moving, or personal tributes, but I did want to note the passing of one of my most beloved authors, Ray Bradbury. I remember reading ‘There Will Come Soft Rains’ in high school, but it was only when I picked up my brother’s copy of Quicker Than The Eye that I was recognised the author and became enchanted by the way in which Bradbury could write. His imagination and solid writing style combined in his writing to create worlds that were at once fantastic and able to be yearned towards. His collection of short stories, The Illustrated Man, will retain pride of place on my bookshelf for as long as there are shelves. Same goes for Fahrenheit 451. And if one day I write a story even half as capably as him, I will be a very satisfied writer indeed.

You are and will be very sorely missed, Mr. Bradbury.

  1. There’s a wreath of flowers over his star on the Hollywood Boulevard just near my hostel at the moment – sad times indeed

  2. That’s Dahl, Clarke, Asimov, and Bradbury gone now. I’m running out of heroes.
