Rest in peace, Arthur C. Clarke. Ninety is a pretty good run as far as this physical plane goes, and I dare say he’ll live on in the hearts and minds of scientists, science fiction, and literature lovers alike forever. Clarke’s short stories and novels have long been a favourite of mine, his ability to place reason behind fiction lead to one of the greatest imaginations ever found. A good chuck of the reason I moved into the scientific arena is because of my love for science fiction and the possibilities—real possibilities that were imagined by the minds of great men like Clarke—that it presented to me in the form of the dystopias and utopias of the future.

I am incredibly saddened by this; needless to say I will be going home tonight and scrummaging among my books to find my favourite collection of shorts to read through.
