So you know

how I said that Friday was shit day? Well, it didn’t stop there. The downing of drinks continued after univeristy with myself and Dino meeting Louise at Paul and Debbi’s place for dinner before APL poker. It was great grub (mmm, Tikka Masala!) and we jauntily strode off to what we assured ourselves was going to be the night one of us won. Of course, we didn’t, but we did all end up on a nice friendly table and got to see an amazing five full houses and a quad. Nice! Anyway, at some point in the night’s conversation we were talking about cars getting broken into, which turned out to be a lovely spit of irony because yeap, you guessed it, my car got broken into. Or, well, not broken into so much as just broken. Some stupid bastard had the great idea to just hit one of my windows. How it happened I have no idea, so I can’t guess that whoever did it had the definite intention of stealing stuff out of my car. But if the act was random violence then I’m pretty pissed off. I’m really quite pissed off anyway, but senseless vandalism really ticks all the boxes in the ‘How to Get Phill Really Shitty’ questionnare. The window was still in the door, and fell everywhere (in the car, all over the street) when I opened it, so there was no way anything got taken. Thank shit for that, because all my music was in there (now safely stored under my bed) and if you thought Cian got pissed off when those douchbags stole her music…well, okay I’ll admit I’ll never get that angry, but think about 67% of that angry. Thinking it? Yeah. Grrr.

Anyway, so once that happened the obvious response was to a) move the car into the garage (which I didn’t even begin to think of beforehand, naive little me) and b) get very freaking drunk. In the morning (though closer to the afternoon) Paul basically cleaned all the glass out by hand and I cleaned and rebandaided my foot which had gotten cut in the process of opening my door. Very large thanks to Debbie and Paul for helping and all that. They’re good people.

So you might think the worst was over. Ha ha. No. While I was driving home, one of the pieces of glass still left in the door somewhere managed to get stuck in the door opening/lock system and bingo bango! I now have to clamber in through the passenger side because my driver’s side door is permanently shut. Yay. I’ll have to call SGIO tomorrow and ask how much they’re going to gape my arse for being under 25. Last time it was $500 for a new window on a ’92 Pintara worth $2,100. I just can’t wait to see what they want to charge now that I have something with electronics.

To continue the theme of massive bitch then talking about writing, I have started a new endeavour at the PFFA called ‘The Greenhouse’, which proposes that each participating member writes one poet every week, and also critiques three times for each poem. At the end of three weeks each member posts one of their poems up for ‘hardcore’ critique, presumably with the aim to get it up to publication standard. There is time period or finishing date. Just an endless cycle of poem, crit, polished poem, hardcore crit. I’m excited by the routine…and I never, ever thought I’d say that. Someone slap me?

Saturday proper sort of made up for it though. I went and saw Matt’s new place and helped put together a bunch of beds and the electrical goods. I was so hungover that I felt like falling asleep most of the day, and probably snapped at Mum more harshly than usual (I swear, my relationship with Mum is going to skyrocket as soon as I move out, I dare say she’s as sick of me being around). I’ll make it up with a big bunch of flowers while she’s in hospital. I like hanging out with Matt’s family, and their house is fantastic. Such a massive improvement over their last two houses (no offense Matt, but that last place was horrific). Then I came home and Lou came around and we messed about and generally glomped all over each other, having not really seen much of the other during the week. It’s normal though, portfolio and all that.

Here’s hoping this week gets better. It has all the portents of being so, with Okkervil River on Tuesday, and a bunch of work for me to be busy with. Hope everyone’s weekends went better than mine.
